Ok. Let’s look at what’s involved here.

The PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) is spread over 9 days and is designed to enable you to act professionally as a PADI Instructor, familiar with all PADI training programs and standards which are amongst the highest in the dive world. Diving is fun, but we need to keep it safe.

The prerequisites for the IDC are:

You must be either a PADI Divemaster, an Assistant Instructor or an Instructor from a non-Padi organistaion.
You must be at least 18 years of age, have logged a minimum of 100 dives and been certified as an Open Water diver for 6 months or more.
Additionally, you must have evidence of CPR and first aid training within the last 2 years and provide proof that you are medically fit for diving.
Candidates from a non-Padi organisation must provide evidence of their training to-date.

Remember the homework we mentioned? You have a little work to do before the course starts! You will be sent (or given if you are already here) a Candidate Workbook.

All 16 Knowledge Reviews must be completed
You are familiar with the 3 different dive planners - Wheel, RDP Table and Electronic Recreational Dive Planner (ERDP).

All necessary training equipment is available through Wannadive and may be provided as a kit including all your own dive gear! Ask for details!

Then of course there is the wet bit! For those of you with few dives, there is much diving to do, not only to get your numbers up, but learn as you do it. Improving your skills, leading dives and learning to conduct confined and open water teaching sessions.

Aiming for Zero to Hero? You will be busy and very wet lots of times!
