SCUBA Diving Tenerife with Wannadive PADI Dive Centre.

Hello again.

We are now at the point that you have been working toward:The PADI Instructor Examination (IE) is a 2 day affair, consisting of pool and Open Water evaluation by a PADI examiner who will travel to Tenerifejust for you! You will also sit written exams and be required to give oral presentations. This can be quite challenging and you need to be focused but remember, during the IDC you will have bonded with others in your group who are going through it with you! You will help each other as others have done before.And remember, we will have prepared you fully for the whole thing. We are also very fortunate to have excellent Staff Instructors and a superb Course Director here in Tenerife. These will be your mentors during the IDC and could almost turn a potato farmer into a nuclear scientist in a week! You really could not be in better hands.

How the PADI. IE works:

Half a day is for you and your colleagues to shine with your oral presentations! The subject will be chosen for you and budding actors will love this bit. But remember, for those of you not used to speaking to groups, these people who you have spent a lot of time with are now your friends and will help you. So enjoy it – it’s fun. Honest!!

You will spend half a day preparing and giving pre-dive briefings before the wet bit starts with confined water skills. In a role playing scenario, you will “teach” and demonstrate certain skills to a “student” under the watchful eye of the PADI Examiner who will be evaluating you. Your student may be given a “problem”. Your job is to spot it and rectify it – fast.

Day two will consist of more pre-dive briefings before the open water sessions begin. Here, as before, you will role play the part of an instructor, demonstrating skills to students (these being your fellow classmates!). Again, a problem may be presented to you and the PADI Examiner will evaluate your actions accordingly. This will probably be the day when you demonstrate your rescue skills also!

The PADI Standards and Theory exams will end the session, where some of you will be pacing up and down, chewing finger nails and chain smoking whilst awaiting your results!

Can you fail? Well, yes. Let’s be honest here. But if you accept the advice and training from the Staff Instructors, be prepared to ask for extra help if needed and work hard (as we had to), there is no reason why you should not pass. It’s in your hands.
