Do something different this holiday! Learn to use a rebreather. Rebreathers offer the diver almost bubble-less and noiseless diving. Originally designed for military applications, long before SCUBA was invented, the system enabled divers to sneak up on enemy vessels to plant mines. Nowadays rebreathers are catching on fast in the recreational market and are very popular with photographers and just about any curious diver who wants to get closer to marine life.
At Wannadive we use the Draeger Dolphin semi-closed rebreather, probably the most popular and safest rebreather in the recreational market. With a Nitrox fill of 40% the maximum operating depth is 25 meters and the 3 liter tank can keep you down for an incredible 57 minutes regardless of depth or how hard you breath! Gas guzzlers and super athletes will have exactly the same tank contents.
We offer "try-a-rebreather" sessions to give you a taster of what a rebreather is all about and how it works. We then make a shallow dive from the beach outside the shop to a maximum depth of 10 meters. You will notice the fish-life are swimming closer to you! This counts towards full "re-breather" certification for those interested in taking up rebreathers seriously.
The full rebreather certification can be taught over 2 or 3 days, in the class-room and in the sea; the final 2 dives will be made by boat and offer a real chance to experience the benefits of rebreathers. Students must have completed the PADI Nitrox specialty before finishing the rebreather course.
